Mission Statement :  We are a diversified Latin-American student association dedicated to 
    assist and support our peers at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.  Our mission can be 
    broken down into several aspects:
 
1) To strive for excellence and pursue Hispanic cultural enrichment within the university and 
the community.
 
2)  Increase the effort towards the recruitment of Latinos
    at Southern Illinois, we will promote and recruit Latinos on a broader scale.
 
3) Once enrollment has been secured, we will attempt to provide a cultural base for the 
    identification of Latino   students and in the process retain Latino students.
 
4) HSC will seek to provide representation of all Latino students and their particular needs 
when working with  administrative departments and other officials.
    All these goals will inevitably promote an increase in the ability and willingness of people to
take responsibility  for the direction of their lives, society, and its institutions
of leadership skills,  cultural awareness, and overall self-development will undoubtedly come
from participation in this  organization.
